Car Sales Reading
1. Introduction
Welcome to Car Sales Reading, your trusted partner in finding quality pre-owned vehicles. These Terms and Conditions (“Agreement”) govern all transactions between Car Sales Reading (the “Company”) and you (the “Buyer”). Located in Reading, Berkshire, UK, we pride ourselves on offering vehicles that meet the highest standards of reliability and satisfaction. By purchasing a vehicle from us, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions. We encourage you to review this document thoroughly to ensure you are fully informed before making your purchase.
2. Vehicle Information and Inspections
2.1 Accurate Descriptions
At Car Sales Reading, we provide detailed and accurate descriptions of all vehicles offered for sale. While we strive to represent each vehicle with precision, the Buyer should conduct independent verification of the vehicle’s specifications, condition, and features to ensure alignment with their expectations.
2.2 Vehicle Inspections
We encourage Buyers to thoroughly inspect their chosen vehicle before finalizing the purchase. This inspection should cover both mechanical and cosmetic aspects. Additionally, we strongly recommend a test drive to ensure the vehicle meets your expectations in terms of comfort, handling, and overall performance. By waiving your right to inspect or test drive the vehicle, you accept the vehicle “as-is,” and the Company will not be held liable for any issues that could have been identified during a pre-sale inspection or test drive.
3. Payment and Ownership
3.1 Payment Requirements
The full purchase price must be paid before the ownership of the vehicle is transferred. We accept multiple payment methods, including debit cards, credit cards, bank transfers (BACS), and other methods as agreed upon by both parties. Payment clearance is mandatory for the release of the vehicle.
3.2 Transfer of Ownership
Ownership of the vehicle remains with Car Sales Reading until the payment has been cleared in full. No vehicle will be released or registered under the Buyer’s name until this condition is met.
4. Cooling-Off Period
4.1 Right to Return Within 14 Days
The Buyer is entitled to a 14-day cooling-off period starting from the date of purchase. Within this period, the Buyer has the right to return the vehicle for a refund, subject to the conditions listed below.
4.2 Conditions for Returns During Cooling-Off Period
- Administrative Fee: A non-refundable administrative fee of £400 will be deducted from the refund to cover processing costs.
- Mileage Limit: The vehicle must not exceed 400 miles beyond the mileage recorded at the time of sale. Additional miles will incur a charge of 45p per mile.
- Condition of Vehicle: The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as at the time of purchase. Any damage, modifications, or alterations will result in additional deductions from the refund.
- Transportation Costs: The Buyer is responsible for arranging and covering all transportation costs for returning the vehicle, including mileage charges if applicable.
4.3 No Refunds After 14 Days
Refunds will not be provided under any circumstances after the 14-day cooling-off period has elapsed. By agreeing to these terms, the Buyer acknowledges that any requests for returns or refunds outside this timeframe will be invalid.
5. Warranty Policy
5.1 Warranty Coverage
Every vehicle sold by Car Sales Reading comes with a complimentary 90-day warranty. This warranty covers essential components of the vehicle, such as the engine and gearbox, provided that the vehicle has been used responsibly and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. This warranty is designed to give the Buyer peace of mind and protection against mechanical faults within the initial 90 days after purchase.
5.2 Exclusions to Warranty
The warranty does not cover the following conditions:
- Misuse or Neglect: Any damage resulting from misuse, neglect, or improper maintenance by the Buyer, including failure to adhere to the recommended service intervals.
- Unauthorized Repairs: Any issues that arise as a result of unauthorized repairs, modifications, or alterations made to the vehicle by the Buyer or a third party.
- Wear and Tear: Normal wear and tear of parts, including, but not limited to:
- Brake pads and discs
- Tires
- Bulbs
- Wiper blades
- Clutch components (unless explicitly covered)
- Rubber and Plastic Parts: Including seals, hoses, trims, and other rubber or plastic components that naturally degrade over time.
- Glass and Music System: Damage to or issues with the vehicle’s minor electric, glass (e.g., windshield, side windows) or in-car music system (e.g., radio, speakers) are not covered under this warranty.
5.3 Modifications
Any modifications made to the vehicle after purchase, including but not limited to changes to the engine, exhaust system, suspension, or other mechanical or electronic systems, will void the warranty. Any part or system that is altered from its original factory specification will not be covered under the warranty.
6. Part Exchange Agreements
6.1 Value Assessment
The value of any part-exchange vehicle provided by the Buyer will be deducted from the purchase price of the new vehicle. The agreed value is subject to verification by Car Sales Reading, and adjustments may be made if discrepancies are identified.
6.2 Clear Title Assurance
The Buyer warrants that the part-exchange vehicle is free from outstanding finance, legal disputes, or other encumbrances. Any undisclosed issues may result in the cancellation of the part-exchange agreement.
7. Liability Limitations
7.1 Post-Sale Responsibility
Car Sales Reading is not liable for any damages, losses, or accidents incurred after the vehicle has been sold and ownership has been transferred.
7.2 Maximum Liability
Our maximum liability in connection with any vehicle purchase is limited to the value of the vehicle at the time of sale. Indirect or consequential damages will not be compensated under any circumstances.
8. Privacy Assurance
8.1 GDPR Compliance
We value your privacy and adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Your personal information is collected solely for transaction purposes and will not be shared with third parties unless necessary to complete your purchase or required by law.
9. Amendments to Terms
9.1 Agreement Modifications
Any modifications to these Terms and Conditions must be documented in writing and signed by both the Buyer and Car Sales Reading to be considered valid.
